President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the bridge which links Wuye and Wuse districts in the federal capital territory (FCT).
He said Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT, was instrumental in the completion of the project, adding that the flyover is the fulfilment of promises made by previous administrations.
He said the completion of the Wuye project would significantly improve traffic flow within and around the district.
“This facility enhances the security of our people, making them the central focus of our development efforts, which is the essence of democracy,” Tinubu said.

“Our determination to succeed and extend happiness to the teeming population, and bring about prosperity and tangible value of immense proportions to our people is the primary objective of this government.
“Nyesom, honourable minister, if they say you dragged me from sleep, most of the time this is for results. Wuse, as a vibrant community within the nation’s capital and the supporting areas, will be the beneficiary of this engineering infrastructure.
“Your resilience, patience and unwavering support have been instrumental in making this moment possible. And for that and to all of you in FCT, please accept my heartfelt gratitude.

“We celebrate not just the infrastructure but also the empowerment of the Wuse and Wuye community in the fulfilment of promises made several years back.
“But you always say and the experts acknowledge the fact government is a continuum. The best way to achieve greatness is to look forward, aspire for great results and not look at obstacles. See opportunity from the obstacles and grab it.
“We are investing in essential services such as water supply, electricity and road network that lay the groundwork for economic growth and prosperity, to share progress and improvement in the quality of life for all residents of Abuja.
“With the completion of this project, we will witness a vast improvement in traffic flow within the district and the adjoining districts.”

On his part, Wike said the project would not have been completed without Tinubu’s decision to pull FCTA out of the treasury single account (TSA).
“All these projects wouldn’t have been possible if you didn’t pull us out of the TSA. You see governance as business and you take it very serious. No one will set up a business and want it to run down, no. So you must be very committed,” Wike said.
“That is why when I came to you and say we cannot implement these projects if you don’t pull us out of TSA. And being whom you are, you said, if this is going to make you to do the projects or do what you want to do to give Nigerians that renewed hope, then go ahead.”
The president also inaugurated the Defence Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) new office complex in Abuja.
