‘It’s a national calamity’ — Buhari condoles with victims of Maiduguri flood

Former President Muhammadu Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari says the flooding in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, is a national calamity.

The flood incident on Tuesday displaced many residents in the Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, and Bulabulin areas of Maiduguri.

The flood followed the collapse of the Alau dam, which has been at full capacity for the past few weeks.

In a statement on Tuesday, Garba Shehu, the spokesperson to the former president, quoted Buhari as commiserating with the victims of the disaster.
