The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has demolished a market popularly known as “Kasuwan Dare” in the Asokoro district of Abuja.
The market, located at Hassan Musa Katsina Street, near Kpaduma II in Asokoro Extension, was demolished on Tuesday by a team from the department of development control.
Speaking to NAN after the exercise, Mukhtar Galadima, the director of the department of development control, said the illegal market was becoming a threat to the residents of the area and passersby.
Galadima added that the market before the demolition was carried out was a hideout for hoodlums and drug dealers in the area.

“The operation will help us get rid of the hoodlums and drug dealers that have taken over the place,” he said.
“We had demolished the place about three times, but the nuisances were rebuilt and continued their activities.
“This time around, the demolished market will remain demolished. We need to sanitise the place and enhance the aesthetic quality of the environment.
