Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, says he has no regret in ordering the demolition of some structures across the state.

Hisham Habib, chief press secretary to the governor, quoted him as speaking when he hosted Aminu Ado Bayero, emir of Kano, at the government house.

Since assuming office on May 29, Yusuf has ordered the demolition of structures he said were “illegally” built and approved by the previous administration.

He said some public properties were given to some “sacred cows” in the immediate past administration.

“Your highness, it is important for the emirate council to note that we embarked on the demolition exercise to bring back public properties that were illegally acquired and we will ensure that all such properties are restored back for the interest of the good people of Kano,” Yusuf said.

The governor said in the last 30 days, his administration has paid (National Examination Council (NECO) fees for 55,000 secondary school students amounting to N1.5 billion, and has been fixing street lights in the Kano metropolis to tackle petty crimes.

Yusuf said his administration has also commenced the screening of Kano students who graduated with first class for oversea scholarships.
