DSS withdraws personnel from Adeleke — but Osun government says it’s ‘minor disagreement’

The Osun state government says the withdrawal of officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) from the governor’s security detail followed a “minor disagreement”.

A statement by Osun Shall Rise Again (OSRA), a group, had claimed that the DSS officers were withdrawn following repeated insults hurled at them by Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun.

The social-political group had also said Adeleke will personally appear at the DSS’ headquarters in Abuja over the matter.

However, according to a statement on Sunday by Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s spokesperson, the DSS officers were withdrawn following a minor disagreement with the police team.

Rasheed said the issue has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies.

“The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a report on the alleged withdrawal of security personnel from Governor Ademola Adeleke,” the statement reads.

“We want to clarify that it is a minor disagreement between officers of the Department of State Service and the Police.

“The matter has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies for resolution. The issue is being sorted out.

“We reassure members of the public that there is no cause for alarm. Your Governor is fully secured and governance is proceeding without let or hindrance.”
