The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally declared Rotimi Akeredolu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as winner of the Ondo state governorship election.
According to Abdulganiyu Ambali, a professor and returning officer for the election, Akeredolu polled 244,842 votes to defeat Eyitayo Jegede, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who recorded 150,380 votes.
Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) placed third with 126,889 votes.
“Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Ambali said.
