Musa Bagos, a lawmaker representing Jos south/Jos east constituency, has condemned the killing of 21 persons by suspected gunmen in Plateau state.
On Thursday, gunmen killed 21 persons during an attack on Baton and Rayogot communities in Heipang, Barkin Ladi LGA of the state.
In a statement on Friday, Bagos described the killings as “barbaric and unfortunate”, adding that innocent people were killed while sleeping.
The federal lawmaker said it is “unacceptable” for those who perpetrated the act to escape justice.

He decried the spate of killings in the state, insisting that the perpetrators must be arrested, tried and punished, to serve as a deterrent to others.
“A situation where innocent and peaceful people are killed in their sleep without the perpetrators being brought to justice is unacceptable,” NAN quoted Bagos as saying.
“Sadly, innocent citizens are being attacked and killed on a daily basis in Plateau, particularly in Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Riyom.

“Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the last four months; villagers can’t go to their farms for fear of the unknown.
“Many people are currently displaced and taking refuge in make-shift camps; crops on farmlands are destroyed on a daily basis. What a wicked world!”
