The Imo state chapter of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) has given out cash and foodstuffs to 100 indigent wives of personnel in commemoration of International Women’s Day.
The empowerment exercise was held on Friday at the Command headquarters, Owerri, the state capital.
Jemimah Danjuma Aboki, chairperson of the association and wife of Imo state commissioner of police, said the initiative was to cushion the effects of economic hardship in the country.
She said the incentives would provide solace to the beneficiaries and serve as a moral booster for serving police officers to discharge their duties without any let or hindrance.
