Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, SSA to the president on sustainable development goals, says Nigeria needs to increase investment in women empowerment initiatives to promote gender inclusion.
Orelope-Adefulire spoke on Thursday in a statement issued to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day.
She said stakeholders in private and public sectors need to show more commitment to women empowerment.
Orelope-Adefulire said Nigeria will not be able to achieve SDG targets if women remain marginalised.

The presidential aide said President Bola Tinubu has made “commendable efforts in advancing policies and programs promoting gender empowerment and inclusion under his administration, serving as a beacon for others”.
“The president is a passionate believer in gender equality. It is his view that we cannot attain the prosperity we desire as a country without inclusion, empowerment, and treating our women right,” she said.
“He has not only committed himself to these ideals in words and speeches since he assumed office, but he has also demonstrated this in appointments and policies being implemented so far.
