Eucharia Iyiazi has won Nigeria’s eighth medal at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics.

The 48-year-old claimed the bronze with a 10.40m throw in the women’s shot put F57 on Thursday.

Iyiazi, who was included in TheCable’s list of Nigeria’s medal prospects at the games, overcame the disappointing display that saw her finish eighth in the women’s discus throw event last Saturday.

Algeria’s Safia Djelal, the world and Paralympic record-holder in the F56 class of the event, created a new world record in the F57 with 11.29m throw to win the gold medal.
