Ize-Iyamu: Obaseki doesn’t deserve another chance

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, says Godwin Obaseki, governor of the state, does not deserve a second term in office.

Although 14 candidates will participate in the governorship election scheduled for September 19, the race is between  Ize-Iyamu and Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during his ward-to-ward campaign at Ogwa, Esan west and Amahor, Igueben local government areas of the state on Monday, Ize-Iyamu said Obaseki has misused his chances of being re-elected.

He alleged that the governor has failed to fulfill his electoral promises, thereby betraying the trust of people.

The APC candidate accused Obaseki of moving to PDP over fears of being held accountable for his actions.

He assured residents of quality education, manpower, economic and infrastructural development, if elected.

At Udo, Igueben council, Ize-Iyamu vowed to construct the road linking the community to the town.

“The governor did nothing for Edo people for almost four years and does not deserve a second term because he will also not work for the people,” he said, urging the electorate to vote massively for APC.

“We will bring more roads and employ teachers in your schools. In the area of Manpower development, our women need more than wrappers, they need money to support their businesses.”

In his remarks, Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo, said he withdrew support for Obaseki over alleged failure to boost infrastructural development.

Oshiomhole said Obaseki could not deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Edo state.

“Today, you are complaining of lack of good roads, no teachers, no water because he failed to continue with my work,” he said.
