The Justice Aderemi Annual Law Series (JAALS) Foundation has expressed condolences over the death of Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state.
Akeredolu died on Wednesday morning at the age of 67.
The Ondo government said the late governor died of complications from prostate cancer while receiving treatment in Germany.
In a statement, Tolulope Aderemi, director of JAALS Foundation, described Akeredolu as a man who made a “remarkable impact across various sectors” during his leadership.

“His loss is not only felt by the people of Ondo state but also by the entire nation,” the statement reads.
“We commend his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people. Arakunrin Akeredolu’s visionary approach and relentless efforts to improve the lives of citizens will always be remembered.
“His remarkable achievements across various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture, have made an indelible impact on the state’s development.

“Akeredolu was renowned for his tireless dedication to improving the lives of Ondo state indigenes. He spearheaded transformative initiatives that brought positive changes to the state.
“Similarly, and in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Association named its new Continuing Legal Education premises in Abuja after Arakunrin Akeredolu in 2022. This honour serves as a testament to his selfless service and dedication to the legal profession.
“During the 2023 Justice Aderemi Annual Law Series, Arakunrin Akeredolu, SAN, was represented as the Special Guest of Honour by the acting governor, his excellency, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The conference, themed “Good Governance, Leadership, and Accountability: The Panacea for a New Nigeria,” showcased his commitment to promoting these principles.
“As the nation mourns the loss of this remarkable leader, administrator, and legal luminary per excellence, Arakunrin Akeredolu’s memory will continue to illuminate for societal emulation.”

The foundation condoled with Akeredolu’s family, the acting governor of the state, members of the Nigerian legal profession, friends, and the people of Ondo.
