Hoodlums, on Thursday, broke into the Nigerian Correctional Service (NSC) facility in Okitipupa, Ondo state.
The hoodlums were said to have pulled down the fence of the facility and set many of the prisoners free.
The hoodlums also set the police area command in the local government area headquarters on fire.
The thugs, who brandished weapons, carted away police rifles after setting the station blaze.

The state high court was also reported to have been torched by the hoodlums.
The local government secretariat, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Vehicle Inspection Office were vandalised.
Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of the state, on Tuesday, ordered a 24-hour curfew to end the ongoing protests in the state.

Some protesters ignored the curfew and embarked on protests in various locations in the state.
