JAMB: Delays experienced during 2025 mock UTME due to newly introduced features

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of its 2025 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The 2025 mock UTME was held on April 10, although marred by protracted delays and logistic lapses.

In a statement, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesperson, said candidates who participated in the optional practice test can now access their scores by sending a text message containing the word “MOCKRESULT” to either 55019 or 66019.

He said this should be sent using the mobile phone number (SIM card) they used during the registration process.

The mock UTME is held annually by JAMB to test new systems and allow prospective candidates to familiarise themselves with the computer-based test (CBT) format ahead of the main UTME.

Initially, 200,115 candidates registered for the mock exercise.

However, this number reduced to 200,113 following the withdrawal of two individuals.

On the day of the examination, a significant number of candidates, 73,844, were absent.

Furthermore, 88 candidates were unable to undergo successful biometric verification.

As a result, a total of 126,181 candidates successfully sat for the mock UTME.

Of these, the results for 115,735 candidates have now been made available.

JAMB has stated that the remaining 10,446 results are currently being processed and will be released in due course.

Benjamin said JAMB acknowledges that some candidates experienced delays during the examination.

He said these challenges were anticipated due to the implementation of new features designed to improve the overall conduct of the main UTME.

Benjamin said the mock examination serves as a crucial trial run for the UTME, enabling them to test innovations and provide candidates with valuable experience of the CBT environment.

The spokesperson added that the initiative has consistently helped to identify and address potential issues, ultimately better preparing candidates for the main examination.
