Attahiru Jega, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is certain that the electoral body will overcome all the challenges currently confronting it ahead of the general election.
Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting with representatives of political parties at the headquarters of INEC in Abuja, Jega said the commission was determined to ensure that the poll conforms with acceptable standards.
He expressed optimism that the election would be better than that of 2011.
“I want to use this opportunity to assure all of you that as we promised Nigerians, we are working assiduously to ensure that the elections we will conduct will be remarkably better that those we conducted in 2011,” he said.

“We believe that even though there may be challenges, such as the distribution of the PVCs, we feel confident that with the measures and mechanisms that we have put in place, we will overcome these challenges.
“We shall overcome them well in advance of the conduct of the 2015 general election.”
He appealed to stakeholders in the country to support the body in its quest to achieve a desirable result.
