Jegede: No matter the volume of opposition, I will govern Ondo

Eyitayo Jegede, factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, says he will succeed in his bid to be governor.

On Thursday, the court of appeal granted Jegede leave to appeal the decision of the federal high court Abuja which gave an order substituting him with Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP candidate for the governorship poll.

The appellate court also dismissed an application by Ibrahim’s lawyer who prayed that the three-man panel of judges led by Ibrahim Saulawa to be dissolved.

In a statement on Friday, Jegede said he was “absolutely” committed to the rule of law and there was no looking back because he has the interest of the Ondo people at heart.

“I remain indebted to the wonderful people of Ondo state who have always remained steadfast with us knowing fully well that this is one project that will succeed no matter the volume of opposition from any quarters,” he said.

“I again reiterate that I am absolutely committed to the rule of law, I have submitted my grievances to the courts and despite the contrivance and manipulation by those who are opposed to democracy, we have been vindicated at the first step and God willing we will continue to trudge on.

“There is no looking back, we are here because we have the interest of the people at heart.”
