Jesse Jagz returns to Chocolate City

Producer and rapper extraordinaire Jesse Garba Abaga (popularly known as Jesse Jagz), who left Chocolate city records in 2012, has now been re-signed to the record label.

Jagz quit chocolate city three years ago at the expiration of his two-year deal due to creative disputes with the company’s management. He’s released two artistically acclaimed albums, Jagz Nation Vol.1 and Vol.2, since his exit but commercially his profile seems to have taken a hit.

Although his return has not been officially announced, a series of uncoordinated information leaks from different sources within chocolate city and Jesse’s camp all confirm his return.

The Chocolate city boss had hinted at a possible Choc Boyz reunion in an interview with entertainment television Hip TV. This year, Chocolate City will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and the president promised major musical project in the offing.

The gist was cemented when a song titled Summer Girl featuring Jesse, MI and Ice prince was unintentionally leaked online on March 17.

According to reports by entertainment website pulse.ng one of the artistes on the Chocolate city roster, who goes by name Pryse, revealed exclusively: “Jesse is reuniting with Chocolate City, a deal has been struck which would enable him return to the label.”

Audu Maikori, president of Chocolate City, posted an Instagram picture earlier showing himself, Jesse Jagz and older brother MI together after a meeting where the signing is presumed to have taken place on Wednesday.

The Instagram post was captioned “Brand New CBN album out soon!!! And by the way your boy @jessejagz is back!!” But the post was later deleted.

Finally, Jesse Jagz himself posted photos on his Instagram of himself with Maikori, his older brother and Chairman Rapper MI. He also sent out a teasing tweet after: “Get ready for the surprise”.

An official announcement was scheduled for a few weeks from now. However, given the coincidental leaks, the timing and content of the announcement may not come as a surprise to many.

Chocolate City is now home to several new artistes Pryse, Dice Ailes, Koker, DJ Caise, Nosa, Victoria Kimani and Femi Kuti (management).
