Jibrin Abdulmumin, former chairman of the federal house of representatives committee on appropriations, has accused Yakubu Dogara, the speaker, of attempting to break into his office to tamper with documents critical to the allegations of budget padding against him.
Last week, Jibrin had alleged that Dogara, Yusuf Lasun, deputy speaker, Alhassan Doguwa, whip and Leo Ogor, the minority leader of an attempt to pad the 2016 budget.
In a statement on Wednesday, Jibrin said unfortunately for the speaker he was in possession of enough evidence.
“There has also been an attempt to break into my office at the House. I know he wants to tamper with documents critical to his and the 3 others future investigation and prosecution but unfortunately for him we already have enough evidence in our possession. The security and anti corruption agencies should kindly take note, ” he said.

“Speaker Dogara has ordered that all the computers in the appropriation secretariat be shut down and moved to his office as if that is the answer to the allegations I raised, ” he said.
“The secretariat staff are being harassed to keep quite and suppress facts.”
He further described a press conference by the Gombe caucus of the house supporting the speaker against him as “a show of shame.”

“Two of them are part of the list of corrupt members I will be submitting to the EFCC. My response to them is they should simply read my full reply released yesterday and join the transparency group, ” Jibrin added.
“An alliance of hundred of members to cleanse the House of corruption and corrupt members. They act Honourably by calling on Speaker Dogara to listen to the call of Nigerians to reconvene the house immediately so that an independent investigation can commence.”
Earlier, the Gombe caucus while addressing the press said Jibrin’s allegations were orchestrated by him because he was duly sacked as appropriation committee chairman over his offence of unlawfully inflating the budget in his own favour.
“Most definitely, the house has enjoyed considerable peace and stability under the able leadership of speaker Yakubu Dogara, but it seems some persons, both within and outside the House, are bent on scuttling this atmosphere of peace engendered by our amiable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, ” Ali Isa said on behalf of the caucus.
