The appropriation committee of the house of representatives has denied the allegation that its staff were threatened on the orders of Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house.
In a letter made available to journalists on Saturday, Abel Ochigbo, clerk of the committee, said nothing of such happened.
“Our attention has been drawn to the report alleging shutdown, seizure and packaging/relocation of the committee system and records/documents of the committee on appropriation including harassment of committee staff, ” Ochigbo said.
“I write to confirm that the committee secretariat is intact and has not been threatened in anyway. All records are also intact and safe – both hardware and software. In addition, our archival setup is properly kept in order.
