Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) have discovered an unconscious man dumped by kidnappers near a pond in Jigawa state.
Adamu Shehu, the NSCDC spokesperson in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Shehu said the victim, a resident of Garki LGA, was kidnapped along the Dutse-Kiyawa road on Wednesday after withdrawing N800,000 from a bank.
He was later found unconscious by a pond side along Gumel-Babura road in Suletankarkar LGA on Thursday.

“He (the victim) narrated that it was while he was trying to board a motorcycle to the motor park that a taxi pulled over and the driver asked him where he was travelling to,” Shehu said.
Boarding the car with other passengers, the victim said he was taken to an unknown location, where he found himself with other hostages. Efforts made by the kidnappers to get N5 million ransom from the family proved abortive after the victim warned his family not to pay any ransom.
“As a result, the suspected kidnappers forced him to inhale a substance which made him unconscious, only to wake up in the hospital and told he was found by the pond side.

“The victim is a staff member of the Local Education Authority in Garki LGA,” Shehu added.
NSCDC said the agency is working with other security agencies to apprehend the suspects and rescue other victims, adding that members of the public should not “board commercial vehicles at undesignated motor parks so as not to fall prey to criminal elements”.
