Nura Ibrahim, the state’s commissioner for environment, spoke on Friday in Dutse.
He issued a joint statement with Mohammed Alhassan, his counterpart in the ministry of land, housing, urban, and regional planning.
They said the fund was approved during the weekly state executive council meeting held in Dutse.
The commissioners said the SEC approved N2.5 billion for the construction, renovation, and procurement of teaching materials.
They said the fund also covers sanitation services in basic schools across the 27 local government areas of the state.
They said the council also approved over N1 billion for renovation of schools damaged by windstorms.
The commissioners added that the council endorsed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the Institue of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) student special project centre in Dutse.
The agreement, the commissioners said, is a collaboration between the ICAN and the state government.
In December 2023, Jigawa similarly approved over N1 billion for foreign scholarships and the development of school infrastructure.
