Jimoh Ibrahim: Jegede should queue behind me… it took me 13 yrs to get here

Jimoh Ibrahim says he'd abolish all forms of taxation in Ondo state | TheCable

Jimoh Ibrahim, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, has advised Eyitayo Jegede, his rival, to queue behind him.

Addressing reporters in Akure, the state capital, Ibrahim boasted that his political experience cannot be compared to that of Jegede.

Jegede is of the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP, while Ibrahim belongs to the Ali-Modu Sheriff group, which has been recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the November 26 poll.

“Jegede is brand new in the system. He’s new and let him take his time. This is not my first time of running for the governorship of the state,” he said.

“In 2003, I ran for the governorship of the state under ANPP. So, politics is not new and I’m not like those people who are running for the first time. I need not to do all the work by moving to all the nooks and corners of Ondo State.

“You cannot come just in one day and begin to think you can win election like that in Ondo state. Nobody can just come and enter like that. Take your time and queue behind.”

He also ruled out the possibility of “begging anybody” in order for him to be victorious at the poll.

He said his allegiance is to the people of the state.

Ibrahim also said he was prepared for a battle with Olusegun Mimiko, governor of the state, if the need arises.

“Even a blind man knows that we are running for the governorship of the state,” he said.

“I am not going to prostrate or beg anybody before I become the governor. I will only beg the electorate. So, take it from me: I’m not going even to have any type of meeting with anybody that is recalcitrant to this ambition. It is not a do or die affair.

“I don’t need to back Mimiko at this time, I am Jimoh Ibrahim and I can sue him after he leaves office and if I have a petition against him I can write it after he leaves office.

“I will sue him, if I need to, fight him, I will fight him.”
