Joe Igbokwe retains position as result of Lagos APC congress leaks on eve of exercise

While aspirants would be vying for different elective positions at the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress across the nation on Saturday, those in Lagos would only file at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja for other purposes but not election.

Barring last-minute changes, aspirants of stakeholders of the party in the state would constitute the party’s executive committee for the next four years.

The Lagos APC had earlier banned those who had spent up to eight years as ward, council and state executive members, from seeking reelection.

While announcing the ban,Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC, said it was time for the party to have new people.

“We fought hard against tenure elongation, and now we are going to have our congresses. Some of you who have spent two, three, four terms as ward, local government and state executive members, it is time to go,” he had said.

“I mean if you have spent eight years, twelve years, you have tried. You should give us chance, let us now have new people.”
