John Abah, Kogi lawmaker, is dead

John Abah, a lawmaker at the Kogi state house of assembly, is dead.

Abah, who represented Ibaji constituency, reportedly died on Wednesday morning.

Confirming his death, Matthew Kolawole, speaker of the state house of assembly, described Abah’s death as “shocking”.

In a statement by Demi Olugbemi, his chief press secretary, Kolawole sympathised with the family of the deceased and the people of Ibaji constituency, noting that the deceased would be greatly missed.

“It is very sad and painful to lose a breadwinner of a family. His demise has created a great vacuum that will be hard to fill,” he said.

He urged the family to “take solace in the words of God which say everything under the sun has time, a time to be born, and time to die”.

Yahaya Bello, governor of the state, expressed deep sadness over the sudden loss.

Bello, in a statement by Onogwu Muhammed, his chief press secretary, described the late Abah as “a loyal and dedicated stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state whose contributions to the stability and growth of the party remain overwhelming”.

He said the deceased was “a seasoned and thoroughbred lawmaker who contributed immensely to the overall development of his constituency and the state as a whole through his various people-oriented bills and motions”.
