Join politics to birth new Nigeria, Imo guber hopeful advises women

Juliet Obasi, a governorship hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state, says women should not shy away from politics.

Obasi spoke in Owerri on Thursday while declaring her ambition to contest the 2024 governorship election.

She said women have the potential to breed ideas that can birth a new Nigeria, adding that women need to step up their game.

She said female politicians need to balance the equation and cancel out men’s dominance in politics.

“Although the menfolk are doing well in politics, their female counterparts need to step up to balance the political equation,” she said.

“Proactive participation of women in politics will afford us the opportunity to breed the ideas for the rebirth of Nigeria.

“Women are home builders, hence their non-negotiable ability to rebuild from scratch. We must encourage them to join politics and contribute their quota to national growth and development.

“I am prepared to lift Imo to greater heights and provide a level playing field for all stakeholders with a deep sense of humility and discipline.

“I have lived in Nigeria, travelled wide and survived complex environments. I am, therefore, convinced that if voted into office by Imo people, I will change the narrative by being a true servant-leader.”

The Imo state gubernatorial election is set to hold in 2024 because the state’s electoral calendar is not in sync with the national calendar.
