President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday approved the office of the deputy group managing director in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
He said the move was aimed at strengthening the corporate governance structure of the corporation and also assist in ensuring that value for money and return on investment increasingly become key factors in NNPC’s operational decisions.
Bernard Otti (pictured), the current group executive director of NNPC’s finance and accounts department, was appointed as the first person to occupy the office.
“In furtherance of ongoing efforts to transform into a commercially-driven entity, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the creation of a new office of Deputy Group Managing Director of the corporation,” Reuben Abati, presidential spokesperson, said in a statement.
