Jonathan juggles cabinet to replace ex-ministers

President Goodluck Jonathan has implemented a minor reshuffle of his cabinet to fill the void created by the seven ministers who resigned last week to pursue governorship interests ahead of the 2015 election.

The changes were announced to state house correspondents by Nurudeen Mohammed, the overseeing minister of information, at the end of the weekly federal executive council presided over by President Jonathan.

Aliyu Gusau, the minister of defence, will now oversee the entire ministry of defence, following the resignation of former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, who is eyeing the Lagos governorship seat.‎

Similarly,  Stephen Oru, the minister of Niger Delta‎,‎ will over the entire ministry after Dairus Ishaku’s resignation as minister of state for Niger Delta.

Dr. Khaliru Al-Hassan, the minister of state for health, fully takes over the running of the ministry, following Professor Onyeabuchi Chukwu who intends to contest the Ebonyi state governorship election.

Olusegun Aganga will have full charge of the ministry of trade, industry and investment, following the resignation of Samuel Ortom.

However, Professor Viola Onwuliri, the minister of foreign affairs I was moved ‎to the ministry of education as minister of state, replacing former occupant Nyesome Wike.‎

Nurudeen Mohammed, the ‎minister of state II, the ministry of information‎‎ in the absence of Labaran Maku, while ‎Taminu Tutaki, the minister of special duties, oversees‎ the ministry of labour as formerly done by Emeka Wogu.‎
