Goodluck Jonathan is the best president in Nigeria’s history, Labaran Maku, former minister of information and Nasarawa state governorship aspirant, said on Thursday.
He was speaking in Lafia while delivering a New Year’s Day message at the St. Williams Cathedral.
Maku, who said he might not contest the Nasarawa state governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). urged all his supporters to nevertheless support the re-election bid of the president.
“Jonathan is the best president this country has ever produced.,” he said.

“He deserves a second term because of what he has done in transforming all the sectors of the nation’s economy.”
Maku also reiterated his earlier claim that his ambition to contest the governorship election is intact, despite losing the PDP primary.
He disclosed that the appeal panel had yet to respond to his petition on the outcome of the primary.

“I want to assure my supporters that no amount of conspiracy by a few people will stop me from contesting the 2015 general elections,” he said.
He advised the electorate not to vote for candidates on religious or ethnic basis, but to choose those with disposition to tackle the challenges confronting the state.
He urged them to remain law-abiding, saying that he would, in a matter of days, unveil his new platform to the public.
