Jonathan says death of Obua, his ex-CSO, came too soon

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says the end of Gordon Obua, his former chief security adviser (CSO), “came too soon”.

Obua died at an Abuja hospital on April 13 after suffering a heart failure.

In a statement, Ikechukwu Eze, his media aide, quoted Jonathan to have said his ex-CSO was a man who still had much to give to his family, community and country.

He said Obua did not only show deep commitment to service but “left undying legacies of honesty, forthrightness, Godly devotion and care for the less privileged”.

“On behalf of my family, I extend our deepest sympathy over the passage of Gordon Obua, my former chief security officer, to eternal glory,” the statement read.

“Death is an inevitable end from which no human being is exempted. Yet as mortals we can never prepare enough for its coming, as the exit of every family member visits us with so much pain and sadness.

“Gordon’s case is even more painful because his end came too soon. He was a man who still had so much to give to his family, community and country.

“My staff for eight years, Gordon was one man with whom I established close kinship, not because he was from my own part of the country, but because he showed deep commitment to service.

“May God Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and bless the family with the fortitude to bear the loss. Accept our sincere condolences and prayers.”
