Adeosun attends first FEC meeting since NYSC ‘scandal’ broke

Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, is among the ministers attending the weekly federal executive council (FEC) meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja.

She walked into the council chamber after the meeting went into a closed-door session.

The opening prayer at the FEC meeting was said by Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, and Ibrahim Jibrin, minister of state for environment.

President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over the session.

This is Adeosun’s first FEC meeting since the report on how she allegedly forged exemption certificate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) broke.

Premium Times had reported that Adeosun possesses a questionable NYSC exemption certificate.

Having finished her first degree at 22, she was not entitled to exemption on the ground of age except she was above 30, according to the NYSC Act.

She would also not be qualified for employment in either private or public sector having not served or been exempted.

TheCable reported how top officials of the NYSC are plotting to help Adeosun out of the certificate mess by blaming it on Yusuf Bomoi, a former director-general of the scheme.

Bomoi died last year.

Many have been demanding the resignation of Adeosun, calling on the president to sack her if she refuse to resign.
