Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold an “emergency meeting” on Thursday to discuss the crises in the national assembly.
The election of Bukola Saraki as senate president and Yakubu Dogara as speaker against the wishes of the APC hierarchy has been generating controversy in the party.
Ahmad Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila were the party’s preferred candidates for the respective positions, but both men lost after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed their opponents.
In a notice issued late Tuesday night, Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state and chairman of the progressive governors, invited his colleagues to the Thursday meeting at the Imo lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 8pm and the governors are expected to take a position ahead of the APC national executive committee (NEC) which will hold on Friday at 10am.
President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to attend the NEC.
Saraki and Dogara are also members of the party’s NEC and are expected to be at the party – the first time the president would be meeting with the “rebels”.

The governors are hopeful that the crises would be resolved by this weekend after previous meetings by the various interests in the party failed to calm matters.

They are not meeting to discuss how to raise IGR, pay salaries or address falling revenues or fiscal federalism. Its Saraki v Dogara
They should deliberate on issues that will move their various states and country forward and not poke nosing into matters that will not add value to our lives. Enough of all these grandstanding and distracting the President. The President has said he can work with anybody or are they not telling us all we need to know. They should shelve their personal interest and allow Nigeria be. Please give us a breathing space. Stop choking us with your inconsistencies. All we want is dividend of change and not all these whizzing. Tambuwal was there and no one created this negativity….. So why now. Nigerians have the right to peace and tranquility. So don’t elevate your party issues to be a national odium. This is democracy and not a fiefdom.
