Abdulsalami meets with Buhari in Aso Rock

Abdulsalami Abubakar, former head of state, paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Friday.

The president received Abdusalami after he had earlier met with Mohammed Buba Marwa, chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to the president on new media, shared on Twitter that Buhari was hosting the former head of state.

“President @MBuhari receives in audience former Head of State Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd.) at the State House, Abuja,” he tweeted.

Abdulsalami, chairman of the National Peace Committee, is meeting with the president amid the spike in banditry and kidnappings in the country.

In October 2020, during the #EndSARS protests, Abdulsalami and other former Nigerian leaders met with Buhari.

The virtual meeting held at the council chambers of the presidential villa, Abuja.

Former leaders who participated in the meeting were Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Goodluck Jonathan, and Ernest Shoneken.
