One of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls has been found at an undisclosed location in Borno state, TheCable has learnt.
Sani Usman, a brigadier general and acting director army public relations, confirmed this to TheCable on Thursday.
“Quote me, another Chibok girl has been found. That’s all I can say now. I will send details later,” he simply said.
Usman subsequently issued a statement confirming the name of girl to be Rakiya Abubakar.

“Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, during investigation of arrested suspected Boko Haram terrorists, discovered one of the abducted Chibok School girls, Rakiya Abubkar, with her six months old baby,” it read.
“According to preliminary investigation, it was discovered she is the daughter of Abubakar Gali Mulima and Habiba Abubakar of Chibok.
“She further stated that she was a student of Senior Secondary School Class 3B (SS 3B), before her abduction along with her colleagues on 14th April 2014 by the Boko Haram terrorists.

“Rakiya Abubakar is presently undergoing further medical investigation and would soon be released to the Borno State Government.

In October 2016, 21 of the Chibok girls were released by their Boko Haram abductors. Two other missing girls were also found.
This brings the total number of girls left in Boko Haram’s captivity to 195.
The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, which has been in the vanguard for the rescue of the girls, has already scheduled January 9 for the resumption of protests to demand the rescue of all the girls.
