Gunmen abduct Adamawa Utd driver, demand N50m ransom

Alhaji Kabiru, Adamawa United FC driver, has been abducted by gunmen along Benin-Ore road on Friday night.

Players and officials of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club were robbed on their way to honour their weekend game against MFM.

The incident occurred around 11:45 pm, one of the players told TheCable.

“Our driver, Alhaji Kabiru was abducted and a ransom of N50 million has been demanded from the club management,” the player told TheCable.

“We were stopped by gunmen along Benin-Ore road at about 11:45pm last night.

“All our valuables were collected. Handsets and money. We were scared for our lives.”

As at the time of filing this report, Sanusi Faruk Jairo, Adamawa state commissioner for youth and sports, was not reachable.
