Hoodlums set police station ablaze in Lagos

A police station in Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos state has been set ablaze by hoodlums.

The incident occurred about 10:00am on Tuesday amid the protests against police brutality.

The #EndSARS protests entered the 13th day today have generated both national and international reactions.

The youth in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, have barricaded the Ojoo area of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in protest against police brutality.

The roadblocks have halted movement to various parts of the state and other states in the south-west region.

A roadblock was also mounted in front of the police station in Ojoo in Akinyele local government area, forcing police officers to remain inside the station.

While the protests have remained largely peaceful for about two weeks, violence have been recorded in recent days.

In some states, the protests were hijacked by hoodlums which resulted in casualties.

Last Thursday, thugs attacked protesters at Lagos state house of assembly gate in Ikeja, the state capital.

On Monday, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos state police command were attacked by hoodlums at Herbert Macaulay way, Yaba area of the state.

In Benin, Edo state capital, hoodlums broke into prisons during the #EndSARS protests.

Tens prisoners were reportedly freed from their cells.

Following the jailbreak, a 24-hour curfew was declared in Edo to deescalate tension.
