The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will go on with the Edo state governorship election against the advice of the department of state services (DSS) and the police, TheCable understands.
The security agencies had asked INEC to postpone the election, citing security concerns.
However, a source at the commission told TheCable that the election will not be shifted, adding that “INEC will soon release a statement to formally confirm that the election will hold on Saturday as scheduled”.
Stakeholders both within and outside INEC have been meeting since Wednesday when security agencies called for the postponement.
