At least 18 worshippers have been killed in a building inside the Reigners Bible Church, along Uyo Village Road, collapsed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on Saturday.
Emmanuel Udom, governor of the state, was billed to be in the auditorium when the tragedy occurred, but he arrived late and instead joined in the rescue of victims.
The incident occurred during the bishopric consecration of the pastor of Reigners Bible Church in Uyo town.
A similar incident had happened in 2014 at the Synagogue Church of all Nations, Lagos, where at least 115 people – mostly foreigners – were killed in a collapsed building.
