Yusuf Galambi, a member of the house of representatives, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house, announced Galambi’s defection in a letter read on the floor of the lower legislative chamber on Thursday.

The lawmaker represents Gwaram federal constituency of Jigawa state.

Galambi said his decision to join the APC stemmed from the “directive” from his constituency.

He also attributed his resolve to leave the NNPP to the party’s leadership crisis.

Galambi is now the latest in a long list of opposition federal lawmakers who have defected to the APC.

On February 12, Garba Koko, a lawmaker from Kebbi, dumped the PDP for the APC.
