The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says a police officer has died in a road accident at Kara Bridge, along Berger area of the state.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s permanent secretary, said the accident involved a goods-laden Volvo truck, a Toyota HiAce bus, and a Mercedes bus.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the agency’s investigations revealed that the truck crashed into the Mercedes Benz bus while on motion, swerved off the road, and fell on the Toyota Hiace bus parked by the roadside.
He said the police officer, attached to the Mopol 20, got trapped and died in the crash while he was on riding on his motorcycle.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the body of the officer has been taken to Ojodu police station for “further processing”.
“Upon arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the incident scene, it discovered a Volvo Truck, registration number FKJ 484 YA, laden with goods headed inward Arepo, a Toyota Hiace Bus, registration number BWR 371 XC and a Mercedes Bus, registration number unknown, were involved in a road accident,” the statement reads.
“Investigations conducted by the LRT revealed that the truck crashed into a Mercedes Benz Bus while on motion, swerved off the road and fell uncontrollably on a Toyota Hiace bus parked by the roadside.

“A Police Officer attached to Mopol 20 Division manoeuvring his way back to office on his motorcycle, got trapped by the incident and died instantly.
“The agency’s response team alongside Nigeria police, FRSC and Ogun state traffic are on ground to ensure safety measures as we await the arrival of the agency’s heavy-duty equipment to recover the truck in purpose to recover the victim beneath the truck.”
Earlier this month, one person died in a motor accident at Ile-Epo, Oko-Afa, along the Lagos-Badagry expressway.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the incident involved a truck, two buses and a car.
