The released Chibok girls on Sunday met with their parents after more than two years in Boko Haram’s captivity.
It was a sober atmosphere at the Department of State Services (DSS) health facility in Abuja, as some of the girls locked themselves in their parents’ embrace — and tears of joy flowed freely.
The 21 girls were released last Thursday after negotiations between the government — brokered by the Swiss government — and the Boko Haram sect.
Although, the Nigerian government said the girls were released unconditionally, there are reports that some Boko Haram commanders were released in exchange for them or that cash was released to the insurgents.

The government has promised to take care of the girls’ education, and to rehabilitate them to enable them to reintegrate with society.
There are still 197 of the Chibok girls in Boko Haram’s den, and President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to ensure that more of them are released.
