Three police officers killed as gunmen attack Apostle Suleman’s convoy in Edo

Gunmen, on Friday, attacked a convoy conveying Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries International.

Six persons were said to have been killed, while the vehicle conveying the cleric was riddled with gunshots.

The incident was said to have occurred in Auchi area of Edo state on Friday evening.

Confirming the incident to TheCable, Chidi Nwabuzor, Edo police spokesman, said three police officers were among persons killed in the attack.

“At about 1700 hours, the man of God, Apostle Johnson Suleman, and his convoy were attacked at Auchi, Edo state, while returning from Benin City,” the police spokesman said.

“During the attack, the unknown hoodlums killed three policemen attached to him, two civilian drivers, a female domestic staff, while another female domestic staff is not yet seen.

“As soon as the divisional police officer in charge of Auchi and his men heard about the attack, they swung into action, moved into the scene.

“The hoodlums, on sighting the police, engaged them in a gun duel, and due to the superior firepower of the police, one of the hoodlums was gunned down, and one of the vehicles they used was recovered.

“As we speak, the divisional police officer and the men in charge of Auchi division are on a serious and aggressive manhunt for the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums.”
