President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with Ibok-Ete Ibas, the newly appointed sole administrator of Rivers state, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Ibas, a former chief of naval staff, arrived at the State House at 12:50 pm for the meeting, hours after the president imposed emergency rule in Rivers.
On Tuesday, Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers over the political crisis and instability in the state.
The president consequently suspended Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state; his deputy, Ngozi Odu; and all members of the Rivers assembly for “an initial period of six months”.

Tinubu also nominated Ibas as the sole administrator, with a mandate to oversee governance.
The president added that the administrator will manage the state without enacting new laws, but may issue regulations subject to federal executive council approval and presidential promulgation.
The president said the judicial arm of Rivers state remains unaffected and will continue its constitutional duties.
