The National Economic Council (NEC) presided over by Yemi Osinbajo, vice-president, is currently meeting at the presidential villa.
The meeting, which began around 11am, has the governors of Zamfara, Kwara, Kebbi, Plateau, Anambra, Jigawa, Adamawa, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Benue, Ebonyi, Taraba, Sokoto, Imo and Lagos states in attendance.
The council is saddled with devising the economic policy direction of the country.
Last Thursday, after the meeting of a committee set up by the council, Adams Oshiomhole, governor of Edo state, revealed that the council had agreed to hire international audit firms, KPMG and PriceWaterHouse Coopers to audit the accounts of revenue generating agencies in the country.

The current NEC was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari on June 29, and will meet once a month.
It is empowered by section 18 of the 1999 constitution to advise the president on the necessary measures for coordinating the economic planning efforts and economic programmes of the various governments of the federation.
