KADGIS: Uba Sani has resolved 347 land disputes in 17 months

The Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) says Uba Sani, governor of the state, has resolved 347 farmland and plot revocation disputes in the last 17 months of his administration.

In a statement, Bashir Ibrahim, director-general of KADGIS, said the governor also provided 203 alternative plots to claimants.

Ibrahim added that Sani introduced a new framework that integrates existing settlements into the creation of new layouts, to prevent future conflicts.

He said the governor approved a reduction in penalties and regularisation fees to “make land ownership more affordable during economic challenges”.

“This includes a 15% discount on ground rent and usage charges for early payments, the option of instalment payments for clients with large debts, and a 20% discount for those making advance payments for five years,” he said.

Ibrahim explained that the state government is digitising KADGIS operations to expedite the issuance of titles, with a target of producing 200 certificates of occupancy each week.

He said the governor allocated 5,453 plots of land to law enforcement officers, government staff, political appointees, and party executives “in recognition of their dedication”.

“This allocation covers long-delayed plots and successful applicants from direct allocations between 2020 and 2024,” he added.

The director-general said new layouts are being developed in various locations to create more opportunities for land acquisition, alongside the regularisation of 25 urban areas.

He assured clients of improved services, including various payment options accessible globally, and enhanced security for public documents.

He noted that 24,000 signed certificates of occupancy are currently available for collection.
