The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kaduna has pledged its support for the re-election bid of Uba Sani, governor of the state.
Speaking on Wednesday after the breaking of Ramadan fast (Iftar) with the governor, the 23 LG chairmen and their deputies thanked Sani for the autonomy to run the affairs of their councils without interference.
Jamilu Albani, the state ALGON chair, noted that all council chairmen in the state are committed to reciprocating the political gesture extended to them by the governor.
“But by the Grace of the Almighty Allah (SWT), and through the support of His Excellency, we were elected chairmen of our various local governments,” Albani said.

“So, come 2027, we will reciprocate the kind gesture of the Governor by ensuring that our people vote massively for him at the polls.”
The ALGON chair said any political opponent who think that they can defeat the governor, will “suffer the worst defeat in their lives”.
He commended the governor for his support to party officials, noting that the immediate past government did not pay attention to them at the local government level, as they only got N9,000 each throughout their tenure.

On his part, Sani pledged his continuous support for the council chairs, while urging them to execute development projects, as local government is the closest to the people.
“Local government is the foundation of politics and I advise you to execute developmental projects, attend to people in their times of need and share the little you have with them,” Sani said.
