Kaduna, Chinese province sign MoU to boost trade

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Hebei province of the People’s Republic of China to boost trade.

According to a statement from the state government on Thursday, this marks a new phase of collaboration in areas such as economy, trade, solid minerals, science and technology, energy, transportation, agriculture and infrastructure to promote common prosperity and development.

Sani affirmed Kaduna’s dedication to the effective implementation of the MoU, adding that the agreement will impact the state’s economy and the lives of its citizens.

“The Governor assure the government of Hebei province of our commitment to the effective implementation of this MoU,” the statement reads.

“This MoU will not only strengthen cooperation, friendship and mutual understanding between Hebei province and Kaduna state, but will impact positively on our state’s economy and the lives of our citizens.”

In her remarks, Jin Hui, vice governor of Hebei province, acknowledged the abundant mineral deposits in Kaduna such as nickel, lithium and gold.

Hui commended the state government for its significant progress in agriculture, healthcare and infrastructure development, and assured of the total commitment of Hebei province towards the actualisation of the MoU.

The Hebei province will be represented by the foreign affairs office, while the Kaduna state government will be represented by the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA).
