Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, has denied issuing a 10-point plan to tackle banditry in the state.

Communities in Kaduna have witnessed a surge in the activities of bandits, with attacks which have led to the deaths of several people.

Meanwhile, security operatives have been deployed to clamp down on the bandits.

On Tuesday, some posts surfaced on social media, alleging that the state government had issued a 10-point plan targeted at tackling banditry in Kaduna.

The post also alleged that the governor had set aside 5,000 square kilometres to build the largest cattle ranch in Africa to be situated in Birnin Gwari local government area in the state.

But el-Rufai, who refuted the claim in a Twitter post on Tuesday, said major events and policy statements are clearly announced on official platforms.

“Malam Nasir el-Rufai pushes for more security operations to enable economic take-off in the Birnin Gwari area. Efforts to make the area a hub for mining and agriculture have not yet reached the lofty targets being falsely peddled as KDSG’s 10-point plan for solving banditry,” he said.

“KDSG did not author or issue the said 10-point plan which contains untrue claims about contacts and agreements with partners. The public should note that all KDSG major events and policy statements are clearly announced on official platforms.”
