Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) has appointed Umar Hashidu as its chief executive officer (CEO).
Abdulazeez Abdullahi, KAEDCO head of corporate communications, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Kaduna.
Hashidu’s appointment is coming less than a week after Yusuf Yahaya resigned as managing director and CEO of KAEDCO.
According to Abdulazeez, a brief handover ceremony was conducted at the company’s corporate headquarters in Kaduna.

He said the event was presided over by Dafe Okpaneye, commissioner on legal licensing and compliance at Nigerian Electricity Regulations Commission (NERC).
In his remarks, Hashidu told the executive management committee and staff members to challenge themselves to improve.
Hashidu said he is confident in the ability of the management and staff to change the negative narrative about Kaduna Electric to a positive one.

Before his appointment, Hashidu was the erstwhile managing director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and the Yola Electricity Distribution Company.
Giving his farewell remarks, Yahaya also appreciated all the staff for the support he got during his time and urged them to do the same to Abdullahi.
Last year, NERC announced its intention to cancel KAEDCO’s licence over a N51.93 billion debt.
A few months later, the federal government announced the planned takeover of Benin, Kano, and Kaduna DisCos by Fidelity Bank Plc, Afreximbank and AMCON.
