Kaduna leads as police receive 547,774 constable applications

The Police Service Commission (PSC) says it has received 547,774 applications for constables.

Ikechukwu Ani, PSC spokesperson, announced the total number of applications received in a statement released on Sunday.

Recently, the PSC in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) invited applications from qualified citizens to apply as constables.

The commission also invited applications for enlistment as artisans into specialised fields.

The online application portal opened on October 15 and will close on November 26.

‘358,900 APPLICANTS QUALIFIED FOR NEXT ROUND’

The PSC disclosed that out of 547,774 applications received, 190,741 were rejected and 358,900 qualified for the next round of the recruitment process.

The commission said 84,606 applicants were rejected for being overage, adding that applicants are expected to be between the ages of 18 and 25.

On state distribution, Kaduna has the highest number of applicants with 40,272, while Anambra got the least number of applications with 1,664.

“Kaduna state maintained its first position as the state with the highest number of applicants with 40,272.  Anambra still stuck in the last position with 1,664,” the statement reads.

“Adamawa state is second with 36,398 applications, Borno state third with 32,048.

“Benue state with 31,122 is fourth, Katsina state with 30,202 is fifth, Bauchi state with 30,604 is sixth while Kano with 30,004 is seventh.

“Ebonyi State with 2,132 applications is next to Anambra from the rear, followed by Lagos State with 2,324 applicants.

“Bayelsa state is fourth from the rear with 2,651 while Abia has 2,796 and fifth from the rear.”
