The refinery in Kaduna would be functioning at 100 per cent capacity by 2015, managing director of Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), Saidu Mohammed has said.
Mohammed made the assertion at a two-day workshop organised by the company for energy correspondents in Kano, themed: Managing Information in the Oil and Gas Industry.
Mohammed disclosed that the plant presently operates at 60 per cent capacity due to the improved operational efficiency of the company.
“Major units of the fuel section of the refinery, including the crude, fluid catalytic cracking unit has been re-streamed to provide the desired output,” he said.

He affirmed that one of the foreign crude storage tanks had been successfully rehabilitated, while the contract for the rehabilitation of the remaining two tanks had been awarded.
He said the company had met with the host communities, and several water boreholes had been built for them to ease their life. He said comprehensive water project for Rido community is at its planning stage.
The Kaduna refinery was commissioned in 1980 and had a installed capacity of 110,000 barrels per day.
